Mnangagwa’s Grip on ZANU PF Remains Unchallenged, Says Mutsvangwa

ZANU PF’s national spokesperson, Christopher Mutsvangwa, asserts that President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership of the party continues to go unchallenged.
Mnangagwa, who also holds the title of First Secretary, is the one who appoints members to the ZANU-PF Politburo, among other duties.
Speaking at what he described as the party’s final press briefing of 2025, held at ZANU-PF headquarters in Harare on Wednesday, Mutsvangwa praised Mnangagwa for steering the party through what some had warned could be a pivotal year. He stated:
“We have navigated a year that many expected to be a turning point for Zimbabwe.
“He has guided the Zimbabwean project with discernment, and we have closed the year with notably unified leadership. His authority within the party remains unassailable.”
Mutsvangwa highlighted the outcomes of the party’s annual conference in Manicaland as evidence of both unity and Mnangagwa’s unmatched authority.
He also cited a string of recent party gatherings—covering the Politburo, Central Committee, and Consultative Assembly—as further demonstrations of discipline and cohesion within the ruling party. He said:
“In every one of those meetings, the President’s authority was clear. Everyone is following the party’s leadership directives, contributing to the harmonious atmosphere that defines ZANU PF.”
“For those who wondered which direction ZANU PF would take, we are living up to the expectation of a 60-year-old revolutionary party shaping Zimbabwe’s future.”
